The ability to track dose to a particular point or structure is an established verification technique that is becoming more prevalent as IMRT treatments become more common.

Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) provides the means of tracking changes in individual organs or regions-of-interest. When combined with dose tracking, this provides a more complete view of changes, both geometric and dosimetric, that are happening to the organ or region of interest. This is called image-guided dose tracking (IGDT).

Features of an IGDT application include:
  • Ability to locally register changes to an individual ROI, given a acquired treatment volume (such as a CBCT)
  • Ability to correlate these changes to planned dose
  • Ability to display cumulative dose given the local registration

This feature set provides a natural bridge between existing features (IGRT and dose tracking) and more advanced techniques (ART)
